AN old hot tub was dumped on a road in a Dorset village, causing delays for families attending a rugby festival.

The hot tub, which was in pieces, was left on the side of New Road in Lytchett Minster.

The waste was found by residents and visitors on Sunday morning, April 2.

One resident came across it while walking her dog. She said she couldn’t believe it when she came across the hot tub.

“It’s quite quiet in the mornings, we’ve got a rugby festival going on with people everywhere, and they couldn’t get through the roads because this hot tub was there,” she said.

Bournemouth Echo:

“There’s the big foam lid, loads of pipes, and the hot tub is full of rubbish, some of it has blown up and down the road, there’s rubbish everywhere.

“It’s huge, you could probably fit 10 people in there.”

She said fly-tipping is not uncommon in the area, and she reported the incident to Dorset Council to be cleared.

“It’s not shocking because it happens all the time,” she said.

“It’s not unusual, but it’s just really annoying.”

The resident said she doesn’t know what could be done to stop people from dumping waste in the area, as she doesn’t believe putting CCTV up would catch anyone.

“I don’t think there’s anything you could do,” she said.

“People are very clever, its pitch black, there’s no streetlights up and down those lanes, they just wait until everyone’s gone to bed and they dump it, nobody’s going to see them.”

Bournemouth Echo:

She added if this waste had been dumped during term time, it would have caused even more issues for people dropping children off at Lytchett Minster School.

“If it was not the school Easter holidays this coming week it would cause such a kerfuffle, when all the kids get dropped at school,” she said.

“It would’ve caused all sorts of hold ups, because its halfway across the road.

“It’s just annoying, it’s just lazy. I know it costs money, but it’ll cost maybe ten times more to have it cleared by the council than it would be if the people actually paid the tip to get rid of it.

“I don’t know the answer.”
