A BODY has been found in a Bournemouth park after a man was reported missing.
Dorset Police have said that a body found in Meyrick Park, Bournemouth, yesterday afternoon around 4.45pm is believed to be that of missing Poole man, Richard Smith.
Yet to be formally identified, it is thought by Police to be the body of the 57-year-old man who was last seen in Julyan Avenue, Wallisdown area on February 29.
Inspector Jon Sainsbury, of Dorset Police, said: “Our thoughts are with Richard’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
“I would like to thank all those who have been involved in the search efforts for Richard over recent days, including volunteers from Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR).”
Richard's family has been informed and the death is not being treated suspiciously and HM Coroner has been notified.
Richard was first noted as missing on March 5 after Dorset Police received a report raising concern for welfare.
Search teams were seen in the area at the time, notably in the Sainsbury's car park, off Alder road.
