A BOY has been identified after a security officer was ‘racially abused’ and ‘assaulted’ at a shopping centre.
A 17-year-old boy has been identified by officers after the incident on Friday, March 8, where he was knocked unconscious.
At around 6pm, the officer at the Sovereign Centre noticed a group of people acting anti-socially in the café.
It is reported when he approached the group and asked them to leave, he was verbally and racially abused.
The officer was then allegedly assaulted by two male members of the group as they were near the exit.
He was reportedly knocked unconscious to the ground and sustained an injury to his ear.
After a CCTV appeal, the boy was identified and he is assisting officers with their enquiries.
No arrests have been made.
