BOURNEMOUTH Pier has turned purple in tribute to Prince following the announcement of the star's death yesterday.
The seafront team from Bournemouth Tourism decided that they would use the daily light show on the pier as opportunity to show their respect for the singer, who was famed for tracks including Purple Rain, When Doves Cry and 1999.
Fans across the globe have shared their favourite memories of the iconic star who was found dead in a lift at his home in Minnesota at the age of 57.
Grace Lovelass, PR and communications co-ordinator at Bournemouth Tourism, said: "The seafront team thought that it would be a nice idea as it gets set up every night and they get to choose the colour.
"They thought it might be appropriate given the international outpouring of grief from people."
