BRIDPORT striker Mark Salter was satisfied with the way the Bees “dealt” with a young Weymouth side during their 2-0 Dorset Senior Cup first round win at St Mary’s Field.

Experienced frontman Salter bagged two goals in 72 seconds early in the first half as Bridport set up a quarter-final clash at Shaftesbury Town.

Speaking to Echosport, Salter was “pleased” with his double against the Terras.

He said: “They were a good couple of goals, they came nice and quick in the first half when we needed it as well. It settled us down and I’m pleased with it.”

Talking through his goals, Salter was thankful for the quality of assists from Kameron Andrews and Lee Sweet.

He said: “You don’t need pace when the ball’s that good! I just managed to get onto it and took it early and slot it past the keeper. It was a good finish in the end.

“The second came straight after, a great run down the left from Sweeter and he’s put a great ball in, you’ve just got to connect with it and it ended up in the back of the net.

“They had some young lads playing but we still dealt with them and it’s good to keep a clean sheet as well.”

Bridport will look to extend their run of three straight home wins when they face Bitton in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division today (3pm).
