BRIDPORT assistant-manager Paddy Behan says the Bees have got to ‘go out and do the business’ as they prepare to face the Bristol Telephones at St Mary’s Field in the preliminary round of the Les Phillips Cup tonight (7.45pm).

Behan is expecting a tough test from the visitors despite their poor run in the league that sees them bottom of the Toolstation Western First Division.

Behan said: “I am sure they will give it a go and I am sure we have got to go out and do the business.

“We are expecting a big physical side.

“I know they are down the bottom of the first division. I think most sides even in the Premier, First Division can get a result against the big boys because they play above themselves so they have got nothing to lose.”

Behan is targeting another run in the Les Phillips Cup this year, after the Bees were knocked out on penalties in a quarter-final replay at Shepton Mallet.

Behan said: “It is always nice to have a decent cup run in the Les Phillips.

“I think they are doing the fixtures in midweek this season which does not clog up your Saturdays, which is quite nice. It will be nice to have a decent little run in it again definitely.”

Behan revealed that their side have done their research, and have spoken to a manager of a side that the Telephones have played already this season.

“I spoke to a manager of a side that has faced them this season and he said that they are quite a physical side.

“They are half decent but they are quite a physical side but that is what you sort of expect from a Bristol side,” he said.

Bridport are set to ring the changes for the battle, with players who have not had many minutes given a run out and other players rested, with Mark Salter confirmed to be absent from their squad. Chris McGrath will not be involved as he is given an extra few days to rest his hamstring.

Last time out Bridport had a frustrating 1-0 defeat at home to Brislington in the Toolstation Western Premier Division, where they created a lot of chances but could not take them.

Bridport boss Adam Fricker is absent and as a result Behan will lead the side for the first time this season.

“I am just going to say to the lads go out and do what we did in the first half, because I thought we created a lot of chances in the first half and just did not take them.

“We were just unlucky with the finishing, the ball just did not drop for us.

“I don’t think we can do anymore.

“From my point of view there is nothing wrong with losing a game if you learn something from it, and I do not think we learned anything from Saturday, because we did not play the way we should have played,” he said.
