BRIDPORT 1

Salter 10

CADBURY HEATH 2

Powell 24, Lee 44

GOALS from Lewis Powell and Kristian Lee saw Cadbury Heath recover from an early Mark Salter strike to defeat Bridport in the Toolstation Western Premier Division.

Bridport had led after Salter’s 10th minute penalty but Cadbury successfully completed the comeback to dent the Bees’ hopes of surging up the table.

The match started badly for the Bees, as they conceded a penalty after a handball in the third minute.

However, Powell’s firmly struck shot was parried away by Bridport goalkeeper Jason Hutchings.

Salter then missed a chance to hand the Bees the lead when he fired wide of the post.

Bridport then attacked again but saw Andy Campbell narrowly head past his own post as the visitors cleared the danger

The hosts then earned themselves a penalty when Callum Ball tripped up Richard Hebditch after 10 minutes.

From the spot-kick, Salter made up for his miss against Brislington in his last match by comfortably slotting home.

The lead would not last long however, as after 24 minutes, Powell made amends for seeing his penalty saved by beating three people before firing in past Hutchings to draw Heath level.

Harrison Kyte was allowed far too much space down the right-hand side as Heath surged for the lead.

The two sides remained deadlocked for 20 minutes after the equaliser, but unluckily for Bridport it would be Heath who took the lead.

After 44 minutes, Lee struck a wicked, deflected shot that beat Bees’ keeper Hutchings.

Despite having some close chances and dominating possession, Bridport could not fashion an equaliser.

Andy Martin had to be taken off with a knock after 62 minutes in a further blow to the Bees.

Lee Sweet went close with a header and Leighton Thomas was proving a real threat but to no avail, as Cadbury held on for their victory.

Bridport boss Adam Fricker said: “We just did not quite fire on all cylinders.

“Don’t get me wrong it was not a poor display by any means from the lads.

“It just seemed to be one of those

days where nothing really flowed for us.”
