DORCHESTER Sports’ manager Ashley James admits he knows “very little” about Bournemouth University Firsts ahead of their visit to the Clayson Stadium tomorrow (2.30pm).

James’ men have been handed a Dorset Senior Trophy first round clash against a student team yet to compete in a British University and Colleges Sport league fixture this season.

Commenting on Sports’ opponents, James told Echosport: “We know very little about them. It’s going to be difficult to really get any thoughts to the players.

“I’d imagine they’re a team that changes quite a bit. We back ourselves at home and we did well there in the cup last year.”

Asked if playing an unknown team hindered his preparations, James said: “Sometimes it’s probably better because we go into it with a clear mind and not confusing it too much – it’s always good to play new teams.

“Last year we got to the quarter-finals, played Westland Reserves up at their place and unfortunately lost 2-1.

“It was a real chance that we let slip with them being in the division below, a really disappointing afternoon. But it’s a good cup to be in, we want to test ourselves against the best.”

Sports have a near fully-fit squad to choose from, with Paul Hill coming back. Only Ryan Ross misses out through unavailability.
