BALTI Sports’ boss Marco Nott admitted his side is in “confident mood” ahead of hosting Wareham Rangers at Weymouth College in the Dorset Premier League tomorrow (3pm).

Nott’s men beat Rangers 4-1 in the Dorset Senior Trophy first round last week, meaning Wareham have conceded 16 goals in two games following a 12-1 demolition by Gillingham Town a fortnight ago.

Victory over the Purbeck side also extended Balti’s unbeaten run to 10 games, including five draws, and Nott is targeting another three points.

He told Echosport: “We’re pretty confident, really. We’re on a good run, in confident mood and when we play at the college we tend to play pretty well.

“I’m hoping it’s more of the same and we can take three points. The draws have been a bit of a problem to us regarding league position.

“On the flip side it’s good we’re not losing those games. We want to turn those into wins now and we’ve got a chance to do that (tomorrow).”

Commenting on Rangers, Nott says the visitors “work their socks off” and is prepared for a rigorous encounter.

He said: “They’re a physical side, they work hard for each other. We’ve got to make sure our work rate is there. Hopefully our ability will get some goals to win the game.

“Every time we play them it’s not a pretty game but they work their socks off and give a good account of themselves.”

Ash Smith could feature having joined from Portland. Nott said: “It’s a really good signing.

“You could tell at training the quality he can give us, he’s played at a high level.

“He’s also won the Dorset Premier League many a time. It’s great for Balti to sign that calibre of player – it’s given the lads a boost.”

Charlie Kenderdine and Ricky Lane miss out but Phil Anderson (hamstring) could return alongside Sammy Nichols, while a selection of the club’s reserves are expected to be called up.
