BRENDON King admits Portland United’s recent run of results has made his job both easier and harder as the Blues prepare to host Andover New Street in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division tomorrow (3pm).

The Blues go into the match off the back of two 6-2 wins against Bemerton Heath Harlequins and Bashley, and now sit fourth in the table.

When asked if it makes his job easier or harder, King replied: “A bit of both really.

“You do not have to say too much but on the other hand you have got to keep them grounded and remind them of their responsibilities.”

King added: “You have got to make sure that once they cross that white line that they are disciplined and professional like we were on Tuesday.”

King praised Andover for their recent results, which have seen them pick up three wins in their last five league matches.

King said: “We’ve had two good wins but we have got Andover New Street, who have picked up some good results in the last few weeks so it looks like they have strengthened their squad, and they won again on Tuesday night.

“So it is another difficult game at home.”

King added: “I just want to go in and try and play the game that we have been playing for the last few games and we should be able to take some confidence into that and try and build on those wins.”

The Blues have a clean bill of health, with Ross Doidge and Max Buckler taken off as a precaution during the 6-2 drubbing of Bashley.
