PORTLAND United Reserves will be looking to continue their red-hot form in the Dorset Premier League when they host Blandford United at the Weyline Stadium tomorrow (2pm).

The Blues come into this game as the form team in the league, winning each of their last six games scoring and 23 goals in the process.

Blandford are also on a hot streak of form having won three and drawn one of their last six league games.

Island manager Justin Faulkner spoke of the obstacles Blandford will pose ahead of the clash.

He said: “Blandford will pose us a big threat, we know where their danger lies and who their key players will be.

“They have had an upturn in fortune so we know it will be a difficult game.

“Having said that we know we are a threat and we can score goals, confidence is high and the belief is coming that we can compete with any team in this league. It’s okay saying that but these players need to go out and prove it.”

Faulkner admitted that their hot streak makes his job difficult but is happy to have the confidence flowing through the squad.

Faulkner said: “My hardest job at the moment is keeping their feet on the ground and guarding against complacency, my message is still the same since day one, keep working hard and take each game as it comes.

“Always play to win, I have never been a fan of playing to not lose.

“That message does not change now, confidence is high and form is good, long may that continue.”
