BRIDPORT have been boosted by the decision of Kameron Andrews to remain with the club ahead of their trip to face Bitton in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division tonight (7.45pm).

Andrews was the subject of a seven-day approach from third-placed Willand Rovers, but the highly-rated midfielder, who can also play at full-back, will stay with Adam Fricker’s side for the duration of the season.

Speaking to Echosport, a pleased Fricker tipped Andrews to feature in Southern League football, such is his potential.

He said: “It unsettles the player unnecessarily but it’s not for me to comment on what other clubs do.

“Kam’s committed to us for the rest of the season which is a massive boost because he’s a class act, he really is.

“For such a young player, in years to come, he’ll be playing Southern League football and beyond in my opinion – I believe he’s that good.

“We’re delighted that he’s chosen to stay with us. He’s a cracking player.”

Oscar Latas has also featured for the Bees in recent games, despite being on the books at Southern Division One South side Street.

And Fricker admitted talks would need to be held with the midfielder should Street continue to allow him game time at Bridport.

He said: “He’s had a conversation with Street because he’s hardly played since his move.

“Oscar has asked if there would be any opportunity. Obviously, it’s got to be right for us.

“I have to respect the players that have committed to us for the rest of the season.

“We’re going to take it on a game-by-game basis and see what happens with Oscar and Street.”

Bridport currently sit in 11th place after back-to-back league wins over Wellington and Shortwood United and could rise to eighth with victory over fourth-placed Bitton.

Due to inclement weather, Bitton will conduct a pitch inspection at 3.30pm.
