PORTLAND United boss Brendon King has insider knowledge on members of the Christchurch squad ahead of their meeting in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier League at the Weyline Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

King counted several Christchurch players, including the likes of Edgar Zanin and Billy Walker, among his squad when boss at Hamworthy United.

Such familiarity with the Priory’s players has afforded King a more detailed overview of his opponents than usual.

He told Echosport: “They’ve got some good players, a couple that were with me at Hamworthy last year.

“I know, speaking to a couple of people that have played Christchurch in the last few weeks, that they have got some good attacking players, so it’s another tough one.”

King admitted last week’s postponement owing to inclement weather was far from good preparation.

He said: “It’s not ideal, you want to play all the time.

“We’ll be looking forward to (Christchurch) for sure. I’m not too sure of the squad at the moment.

“Ross Doidge is still suspended, but I’m hoping everyone will be available.”

Shaun Bessant and Ed Bastick (both abdomen) remain out.

King also revealed he is in talks with a midfielder over a possible move to the Weyline.
