PORTLAND Red Triangle A moved to the summit of the Clayesmore DCA Sunday Indoor League with victories over Stalbridge and Portland Red Triangle B.

Triangle’s double win sees them move into first place as their run rate is 2.4 runs better off than unbeaten Weymouth, with whom they are level on 10 points.

The islanders first had to defeat unbeaten Stalbridge, the north Dorset side making 134-1 from 12 overs as George Coleman, Dorset all-rounder Jon Legg and Jamie Lewis all made 28.

In reply, Portland survived the loss of Simon Proffitt (13) as Ollie Whisker (40) and Matt Randell (39) steered Triangle home in the final over.

An in-house derby with Portland B followed and the A team made their highest score of the indoor season with 184-1, Proffitt (29no) top-scoring.

Only Tony Quayle (28) offered any resistance until he was stumped by Proffitt, the B side making a paltry 81 all out.
