PORTLAND Town have taken another step in their progression with a ground move to Milborne Sports Club after it was agreed that all first-team games will move from Budmouth Sports Centre to Milborne in the summer.

After recent season’s improvements in performance, the club have gained promotion to Dorset League Division One, the club suffered relegation in 2017 after successive bottom place finishes but have bounced back and now sit in the top half of the higher division for the first time.

Town have now set their sights on the Senior League over the coming seasons, under the stewardship of Kieron Neilson-Howes and his assistant Kevin Paice.

Promotion to that level is something that was a distant dream for the club two years

ago.

Portland chairman Andrew Barber said: “As well as free games for first team players, next season we can now confirm the first team’s new home will be the amazing pitch and facilities at the Milborne St Andrew ground.

“This is an amazing coup for the club as it will enable us in our quest to push as high up the leagues as we can.”

Barber then added: “The facilities at the ground are top notch with the ground having been the preferred choice of many of the county and league venue for the cup competition finals.

“I’d like the thank the guys at Milborne St Andrew, Richard and Malcolm for giving us the go ahead.”
