BRIDPORT boss Adam Fricker insisted the Bees are “a match” for Wimborne Town ahead of their Dorset Senior Cup semi-final at Cuthbury tonight (7.45pm).

Fricker’s men have ghosted through to the last four after Verwood Town conceded their quarter-final but the Bees have excellent cup pedigree to call upon.

Earlier this season, Bridport ran seventh-tier Tiverton Town extremely close in the FA Cup first qualifying round, losing 1-0.

In the 2017/18 campaign, Bridport embarked on a phenomenal FA Cup run, frightening National League South outfit St Albans City during a 2-1 defeat in the third qualifying round.

Now facing the Magpies, who play two tiers above his troops, Fricker feels Bridport can play with “no fear”.

He told Echosport: “We’re going to have to have some luck and to be at our best but they had a tough game with Weymouth (on Saturday), but we had a tough one against Plymouth Parkway.

“We’ll go there and play with no fear, play with some confidence and see what happens. There’s no pressure on us. It’s weird playing a semi-final in the Dorset Senior Cup and we haven’t played a game in it yet!”

Bridport warmed up for the clash with a 2-1 loss at second-placed Parkway, while Wimborne drew 0-0 against the Terras to end a run of three straight defeats.

Asked if form could play a factor, Fricker said: “They might be looking at it as the perfect game to bounce back.

“They’re a team that’s two leagues above us, so I don’t think there’s any great time to play them. On paper they should turn us over.

“I think we’ve shown in the Tiverton game we’re a match for these teams if we’re at it. Let’s see what happens.”

Andy Martin and Luke King bolster Fricker’s defensive options after striker Mark Salter played at centre-back on Saturday, but Kameron Andrews (groin) is a doubt.
