YEOVIL TOWN LADIES 0

READING FC WOMEN 5

YEOVIL Ladies had their relegation from the FA Women’s Super League mathematically confirmed with a 5-0 defeat to Reading at the Clayson Stadium.

A goal from Fara Williams in the first half and a Lauren Bruton double in the second half, as well as a further brace from Millie Farrow, did the damage against a Glovers side who matched them for vast swathes of the match.

Emily Syme had the first real opportunity for the Glovers and went agonisingly close after an early Reading move was intercepted and Syme fired narrowly wide.

Yeovil’s best opportunities came from counter attacks, exemplified when then Emily Donovan played in Fergusson, who provoked a great save from Reading goalkeeper Grace Moloney.

Yeovil saw both Hannah Short and Charlotte Buxton suffer first-half injuries and had to be replaced.

When the breakthrough came, it was spectacular, with Williams whipping a strike in across goal and into the top corner from 25 yards out after 33 minutes.

The second half started with Yeovil going incredibly close, when Fergusson broke forward, got the right side of the defence but saw her shot magnificently saved by Moloney.

Reading then doubled their lead with 54 minutes on the clock as as Rakel Honnudottir backheel found Bruton who curled an effort into the far corner from the edge of the box.

Farrow notched her goal in the 81st minute, three minutes after coming on, before Bruton grabbed a second after 83 minutes.

Farrow wrapped up the win with another goal, her second in 12 minutes, in the last minute of the 90.

Yeovil travel to Manchester City on Sunday (2pm).
