ANDY Dennis and Dave Howat hit 47 points to claim the 27-hole Foursomes stableford Invitation Salver for Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club for the first time in the club’s history, writes Peter Crowter.

The general manager and captain respectively, triumphed at the tournament at Barton on Sea Golf Club, which is for club captains and managers from the region.

Sean Trussell, an event organiser, said: “Congratulations, to Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club with the winning overall score of 47 which is incredible after battling the Barton breeze!”

Ed Cary (5) and Ben Buckland (18) triumphed with a clear margin of five points over their nearest rivals with 46 points in the men’s Sunday competition the Tony Palmer Salver.

Runners-up after count-back were Ian Kearley (17) and Phil Winton (13) who carded 41 points.

Also scoring 41 points, and nudged into the third spot, were Nathan Dunford (16) and Ian Thacker (16).

Spike Spiller (17) won the Midweek Stableford scoring 41 points.

Veterans’ Section

TONY King (16) came in the clear winner with 38 points in the veterans’ self-entry, single division Stableford.

In the runner-up spot was Graham Topp (17) scoring 35 points, David Inglesent (23) took third place with 34 and in fourth place was Bryan Holmes (15) scoring 32.

The veterans played two inter club matches last week, the first was away at Parkstone, where they lost 4-2 which is no disgrace away at such a formidable club.

Bridport then hosted Came Down, with the home team winning 3½-2½.

Ladies’ Section

CAROLE Brown (17) notched a good score of nett 76 to top Division A of the May EG Medal, writes Avril Brown.

Brown was closely followed by Toshiko Rickets (14) who carded a nett 77. Division B was won by Anne Follett (36) scoring a nett 78, ahead of Avril Brown (31) on nett 79.
