DORCHESTER Town Football Club have announced that Shane Murphy has signed a one-year contract with to re-join the Magpies for the 2019/20 season.

The goalkeeper links up with the club again having made his debut in April 2014, and has spent the past two years with AFC Totton. He becomes the 11th player to sign up so far.

After putting pen to paper on the deal, Murphy said: “I’m very excited to be back, there have been some excellent players signing and Cal (Brooks, manager) has been doing his recruitment well. Everyone at the club is doing a great job to get the best squad available.

“Cal’s given me the opportunity to come and play at a higher level again and that’s what I want to do. Like I said, there are some excellent players coming back like Charlie Davis and Dan Strugnell – I mean, what a signing that is for the club.

“I don’t think people realise how good he is going to be here having seen him first-hand for many years; he’s a top player and he’ll probably be in my opinion the best in the league.

“I’m ready to get going already and I’m buzzing for the season to start.”

Speaking on his latest addition, Brooks said: “I would like to welcome Shane back to the club. As I keep reinforcing, I feel it is imperative that as well as signing the right players for Dorchester Town we are also signing the right characters, and Shane is certainly the type of personality that I want to move forwards with.”

“We are making no secret of the fact it is our intention of making significant progress on the football pitch and to do this we need strength in every unit, which has led to me recruiting Shane to work alongside Hutch and under the expert guidance of Steve Dodge. Successful teams have competition for places all over the pitch and that is what we are aiming to be.”

“Shane is an up and coming goalkeeper that I have worked with before, I have witnessed his work ethic first-hand and followed his progress since then.

“He has continually worked to better himself in all areas and will be a big part of our project moving forwards.

“We move into the 2019/20 season with a strong goalkeepers union at our club.”
