A WEST Dorset town’s goal of forming its first ladies’ football team has come to fruition.
Beaminster Ladies FC will play in the Dorset FA Recreational League and is looking for players aged 16 or over.
They will also be working with Beaminster School to encourage girls to play football, train and eventually join their team.
Beaminster Ladies are managed by the experienced former Bridport BYFC ladies’ coach Zac Hawker, who has just steered them to fourth place in their debut league season.
The club are sponsored by Craig’s Taxis, and supported by Maria’s Pantry, Elwell Kennels, Phoenix Electrical, Gavin Dixon Financial Solutions and A.G. Down Funeral Directors.
A Dorset FA spokesman added the team signalled growth in the county.
They said: “We are pleased to welcome the new team as grassroots football sees an massive increase in ladies’ football investments and sponsorship across the county.”
