UPLYME & LYME REGIS 163-8 (19pts) beat BIDEFORD/LITTLEHAM/WESTWARD HO! II 128 (7pts) by 35 runs

UPLYME & Lyme Regis registered an excellent 35-run win over fellow high-fliers Bideford/Littleham/Westward Ho! Seconds to move into third place in the Devon Cricket League E Division East.

Uplyme lost the toss at King George V Playing Fields and were inserted, the hosts making a steady start in reaching 27-0.

However, Steve (11) and Mark Batey (20) lost their wickets after getting in and the trend continued with Marten Stanbury (3-26) making headway as Uplyme staggered to 130-8.

Uplyme’s main scorer was Robert Thom (44) and his good work was amplified by a valuable unbroken stand of 33 for the ninth wicket between David Matthews (16no) and Jacob Maltby (12no) as the hosts set a target of 164.

In reply, teenager Maltby was the star, snaring 3-22 from seven overs, backed up by 2-11 for captain Mark Brimicombe and 2-25 from Steve Batey.

Only a woeful 44 extras conceded inflated the visitors score to 128 all out as Uplyme emerged comfortable winners.
