THE Offshore Circuit Racing Drivers’ Association’s (OCRDA) Aqua Adrenaline Tour third round whistled into West Bay with Belgium’s 888 Silver Racing Team emerging victorious.

There was trouble for the Belgians’ rivals as Team Kamo Krzee and Team 51 Racing both broke down but the former still managed third place.

Meanwhile, Team Joker claimed fourth in their class despite running out of fuel.

This event was a European Open Invitation, which saw Belgian and French powerboat teams and UK jet skiers joining in the fun.

There were two heats of powerboat races and three jet ski heats on each day, although heat three of the jet skis on the Saturday did not go ahead due to technical issues.

In the powerboat Formula One class, Jeremy Gibson and co-driver Malachy Browne took victory for Gibson Construction in their brand new Phantom 19 which finished being rigged less than 24 hours before competition.

CB Marine, with Chris Brown and co-driver Peter Snell, took the Formula Two spoils in their Phantom 18, while Team Listerine triumphed in the Formula Three category with Sam Jackson and co-driver Perry Murphy aboard a Phantom 16.

Concours d’elegance was awarded to Team Thurston manned by Ben Brown with co-drivers Danielle Cooper and Lino Van Wambek.

Modified class winner for the jetskis was Joe Harvey, while Matthias Geerts and Elliot Cable won the Stock and Spark classes respectively.

With the fantastic weather, races were very well attended by crowds on both days. Organisers and racers enjoyed the interest shown by visitors about the sport, technicalities, the boats and the skis.

Sea conditions, although being flat calm on the first two days did swell up a little to make things slightly more interesting for the racers and spectators.

The event is set to return on Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5, 2020.

OCRDA extends grateful thanks to all the local businesses, officials, accommodation owners, the council workmen who worked tirelessly and co-operatively to keep everywhere tidy and the public who came along and supported the event.
