AARON Chambers claimed the spoils as two junior members and one guest turned out to fish the sixth annual Frank and Peggy Daw Memorial Trophy, in honour of two people who supported the West Bay Sea Angling Club’s juniors for many years.
The day was warm, cloudy with some sunny spells, the wind thankfully was a light north-westerly breeze which flattened the sea.
Chambers started off with the first fish of the day, and also managed to catch a sizeable ballan wrasse of
347g which put him
well in the lead.
Last year’s winner, Robbie Hall, tried his best to win the match and managed to catch a great total weight of 1kg 60g, but he was unable to land a sizeable fish, which take precedence over undersized fish.
All of the competitors caught fish on the day and species caught were shanny, pout, pollack, corkwing wrasse, ballan wrasse and tompot blenny.
The club would like to thank all those that fished and the Daw family for the extra prizes.
