WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley admits he is “gutted” to lose “talisman” Josh McQuoid for the Terras’ Vanarama National League South meeting with Dartford at the Bob Lucas Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

McQuoid, newly instated as captain this season, pulled up inside the first 30 minutes of Weymouth’s 1-1 draw with Slough on Tuesday with a hamstring injury.

The former Northern Ireland international was pivotal in the Terras’ superb 4-1 win over Chelmsford City last Saturday but now seems set for a spell on the treatment table.

Speaking to Echosport, Molesley described the ex-Bournemouth forward’s injury as a “bad one” for the club.

He said: “The most disappointing thing (about Tuesday) is losing Josh in the first half. Saturday showed he was just starting to find his feet, fitness and we’ve lost him.

“We’ll have to see how he settles, have a scan, and see what we’re looking at.

“That’s a massive blow for us and I’m sure if he was still on the pitch in that second half his pace and power would’ve caused even more problems for them.

“It wasn’t to be – this is the nature of football. It’s a bad one for us, we’re gutted to lose our talisman. Hopefully it’s not too long. He’s pulled up with a hamstring and we’re just going to have to wait to see the extent of it. It’s a real blow for us, but it brings an opportunity for someone else.”

On Dartford, Molesley added: “There is no easy game, it’s very competitive and you can’t afford to take your eye off the ball.”

“The big games and the big occasions bring out the best in us and it’s one we’re looking forward to.”

Molesley also confirmed Jordan Rose will be available after the centre-back travelled to, but did not play, in Slough.
