BRIDPORT manager Rich Robson revealed he will be calling upon other resources to devise a gameplan against Bashley in his side’s FA Vase first qualifying round tie on Saturday (3pm).
Robson’s men travel to the Bash, who also play in the ninth tier of English football, in the sister Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division seeking progress to the second qualifying round and £550, while the losers will net £175.
Robson personally scouted Bashley in their 1-1 draw with Baffins Milton Rovers on Tuesday and admitted he will be in contact with former colleagues at Portland United after his time alongside former boss Simon Browne.
“Hopefully that gives us insight to formulate a gameplan to play against them,” he said.
“I’ll be speaking to Reggie (Carter, Portland assistant-manager) to see what they think of them and I’ll also be speaking to friends at Hamworthy to see if they’ve got some insight.
“They’ve played them quite recently and we’ll see what sort of advice they can give us. The broadest (amount) of opinions we can get allows us to create the best plan possible.
“Using friends is invaluable in football, I think.”
Bridport are expected to field a full-strength side, a luxury Robson is yet to have this season – particularly in the 2-1 FA Cup loss at Bitton.
He said: “Hopefully we’ll have a few players back in that we didn’t have available Saturday. (Against Bitton) we had to play a few players out of
position in that game. Scott Wells-Burr, our goalkeeper, played centre-back.
“Hopefully the need for that is now over and we should be back to full-strength.”
