PORTLAND United are rapidly approaching the halfway mark in their bid to purchase the Weyline Stadium ground from the Crown.
A figure of £60,000 is required to secure ownership of the Blues’ arena at Grove Corner, with a board erected inside the ground illustrating the funds raised so far.
Portland’s president, Dave Camp, welcomed donations towards the target.
He said: “The Blues owe a massive thank you to those who supported this initiative. This board can be viewed on any matchday.
“The amount raised by this and other donations from the Court Leet and Portland Rotary brings us almost to the halfway mark towards the £60,000 needed to purchase the ground from the Crown.
“If anyone missed out on this and would like to give, the club is always happy to receive donations.
“We were really amazed at the almost immediate response from the public.
“Particularly, when members of the committee sat in the foyer of the Portland Tesco for a day.”
