WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley has hailed his players for being "soldiers" after coming through a harsh run of away games.

The Terras face Eastbourne Borough today (3pm) in what will be their fourth game in nine days but finally get to play at home this afternoon after three road trips on the bounce.

Ground to ground, Weymouth travelled about 850 miles in seven days during that three-game period, including the 390-mile round trip to Braintree Town in Chelmsford.

Ahead of a first home game in two weeks, Molesley said: "I think it's safe to say that everyone is looking forward to getting home.

"I'm not sure how they've worked it out so we have three away games in nine days when our lads have to work and get time off and finish early but there you go."

After Weymouth's 3-2 defeat to Havant & Waterlooville in midweek, Molesley said: "We have been unfairly punished on the fixtures. This is only part time for our players and we played a full time team tonight.

"I'm proud of the lads because they have been absolute soldiers for us.

"When it's three away trips on the spin with the long travelling it's a bit cruel but I am proud of all our lads, to come through this run and give Havant a real run for their money in their own back yard."

Today's opponents have drawn their last five but have played half as many games as Weymouth in the last two weeks, with just the two home games.

Molesley will be hoping for another huge performance from his men to overcome any tiredness from this run.
