Bridport Evolution had a week to remember in the Dorset Basketball Division Two, with two convincing victories on the road.

Southbourne Donkeys 53

Bridport Evolution 81

First to host Evo was Southbourne Donkeys on Tuesday. A blistering start to the first quarter with exceptional defence saw Bridport soar to a thirteen point lead.

This extended in the second quarter with Craig Sorrell and Chris Canham making it difficult for the home side to contain Evolution. The half finished 32-46.

With Bridport playing tough Defence the Donkeys were forced into making mistakes with the intense pressure. Evolution just had to remain focussed and see the game through finishing comfortably ahead 53-81.

Scores: Sorrell 30 (MVP), Canham 28, Trivett 8, Kirby 6, Ormsby 4, Mogilevcevs 3, Gray 2.

BCS Seahawks 48

Bridport Evolution 64

Two days later, on Thursday evening, Evo were again on the road to face the Bournemouth Collegiate School Seahawks.

Always an intimidating atmosphere, Bridport once again started strongly, showing their experience against the students. Early breaks from Canham, Sorrell and White kept the offence alive whilst organised defense was asserted from the outset.

The Seahawks kept pushing to try and stay close to Evo but it was the away side who finished the first half in front 26-31.

Into the second half, and Evo stayed strong with intense plays on both ends of the court. Josh Kirby stepped up and became a problem for the home side whilst a strong combination from Jack Trivett nailing top of the key jump shots and getting several blocks on defence kept the Seahawks to only five points in the third quarter. Evo up by 20 going into the last quarter saw a good fight from the home side to try and get back in the game but Bridport kept composed in the fourth quarter and finished with a good win 48-64.

Scores: Sorrell 21, Canham 16 (MVP), White 11, Trivett 7, Kirby 4, Gray 3, Ormsby 2, Mogilevcevs.

Two games in three days is always a tough ask but Evolution have come through it with two convincing victories, cementing their place at the top of the league.

Bridport will try to keep the momentum up and will be home against BG Suns on Monday at Beaminster Sports Hall 7.15pm tip off, please come and support.
