PORTLAND United Football Club has thanked supporters for their hard work in keeping the club afloat during these unprecedented times.

With the Syndenhams Wessex League declared null and void by the FA due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the club has had to turn to other ways of keeping things ticking over during lockdown.

Visits to the ground are obviously not possible since lockdown but the Committee has been in touch with each other on a regular basis and Club President, Dave Camp, has updated the Facebook page to keep the supporters informed of developments at the club.

A spokesperson for the club said: “The club would like to thank all of their sponsors and the hardworking fundraising team. Since last August the sum of £2,000 profit has been banked from the T hut, £600 from ball sponsors and mascots and £1,314 from the sale of programmes, £230 from programme sponsors and £800 from Smartie tubes.

“This is despite the fact that the club still had at least, four more home games to play.”

Mr Camp added: “This is all down to our wonderful supporters. Without them the club would not be able to function at this level. A big thank you from your proud Club President.”
